Actions Taken:
October 23, 2006: SAI received a complaint letter
and CD-Rom with details of supporting evidence from an anonymous
complainant alleging that the factories of the Laws International
Group in Thailand (headquartered in Hong Kong) do not deserve
their SA8000 certification due to various violations of the
SA8000 standard. SAI notified the certifier, BV, of receipt
of the complaint and requested that it begin an investigation.
A brand customer of Laws Factories notified SAI that it, too,
had received the CD.
Since that time, SAI has been in consultation with the certifier
and the investigation is ongoing – the complaint is
not yet resolved.
