Actions Taken:
April 17, 2006: BV received a complaint from the
management of AEPETRO (Association of the Employees of Petrobrás).
The complaint said there were flaws in the SA8000 certification
process for Petrobras Abastecimento and alleged that Petrobras
does not act in the interest of its stakeholders.
May 25, 2006: The complaint was formally received by SAI
from AEPETRO and SAI acknowledged its receipt on May 26, 2006.
The complaint detailed alleged violations of several elements
of the SA8000 and referred to a lack of compliance with national
law, ILO conventions, and Petrobras' own CSR code.
The Certification Body conducted an investigation and SAAS
reviewed the actions taken by the CB during its complaints
investigation.
In December 2008, SAAS was notified that Petrobras had dropped
its SA8000 certification. As the facility was no longer certified,
the complaint could not be investigated further.
