John Brookes, Global Loss Prevention, Inc.
Mr. Brookes is presently the Assistant Vice President -
Quality Management at Global Loss Prevention, Inc. a wholly
owned subsidiary of Chartis (a leading global insurance
company). In this role he develops and maintains quality
management processes for the company's global insurance
engineering services, (encompassing all aspects of ISO 9001
compliance and ongoing business improvement initiatives).
From 2002 to 2005, prior to joining the Chartis organization,
Mr. Brookes was owner of Management Accountability Systems;
an independent company providing quality, environmental,
and social accountability consulting, auditing and training
services. During this period, he led SA8000 Accreditation
audits on behalf of SAAS. Between 1991 and 2001, Mr. Brookes
held the position of Senior Vice President - Business Development
for SGS International Certification Services (Now SGS Systems
& Services Certification). While at SGS, he was Global
Program Manager for social accountability and an SA8000
Lead Auditor and trainer. He was also a founding member
of the SAI Advisory Board and assisted SAI in the development
social accountability auditing evaluation and reporting
protocols. During the 1980's Mr. Brookes was a quality consultant
and IRCA certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor. Mr. Brookes has
served as a member of the SAAS Accreditation Committee since
2006.
Tom DeLuca, CCI
Consulting, LLC
Mr. DeLuca, formerly Vice President of Imports and Compliance
for Toys “R” Us, has over 40 years of retailing
experience and spent the last 25 years with Toys “R”
Us in senior management positions prior to retiring in 2008.
Mr. DeLuca is currently Chairman of the Social Accountability
International (SAI) Governing board, part of the Social Accountability
Accreditation Services (SAAS) Accreditation Review Panel,
and a member of the Board of Directors for China Labor Watch
(CLW). While at Toys “R” Us, Mr. DeLuca was responsible
for the company’s benchmark toy safety compliance programs
that he developed and implemented in 1989. In 1995, the company
was honored by the Chairman of the US Consumer Product Safety
Commission for its significant accomplishments in toy safety.
His responsibilities included the company’s comprehensive
Code of Conduct for Suppliers program that he authored and
implemented in 1997. In that same year Toys “R”
Us was honored with “The Pioneer Award in Global Ethics”
as a corporate conscience award winner by the Council on Economic
Priorities (CEP). Mr. DeLuca was formerly Chairman of the
SA8000 Advisory Board and has been a frequent guest speaker
and panelist at numerous conferences on Codes of Conduct,
Responsible Business Practices, and International Labor Standards.
Joe Iarocci, Mission Driven Partners
Mr. Iarocci is President of Mission-Driven Partners, a consulting
firm serving nonprofit and social sector organizations seeking
greater innovation, resources and impact. Before founding
Mission-Driven Partners, he was Chief of Staff of CARE USA,
one of the largest international NGOs dedicated to ending
global poverty. Mr. Iarocci joined CARE in 1998 as General
Counsel, was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2004 and
Chief of Staff in 2008. Before joining CARE, he practiced
business law in Atlanta and New York City. Mr. Iarocci received
his A.B. magna cum laude from Brown University, his J.D. from
the Cornell Law School and a Masters in Theological Studies
from the Candler School of Theology, Emory University. Mr.
Iarocci is a director and member of the executive committee
of MicroVest, a leading private sector microfinance investment
fund. He serves on the boards of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits
and Citizen Effect. Mr. Iarocci speaks and teaches regularly
on ethics, leadership and the problem of global poverty. Joe
and his wife, Laura, have three daughters and live in Atlanta.
Heiko Liedeker, Leading Standards
Mr. Heiko Liedeker is engaged with public sector, corporate
sector and civil society organizations as strategic advisor
on social, environmental and economic compliance, standard
setting, verification and governance. He currently serves
as Executive Director of Leading Standards GmbH, an organization
providing strategic advice and support to organizations on
the development and implementation of social, environmental
and economic sustainability standards. Until mid 2008 he served
as Executive Director of the Forest Stewardship Council. For
over 6 years he led the FSC through comprehensive restructuring
and repositioning to being one of the leading social and environmental
standard setting and certification systems worldwide. Before
joining the FSC, he served Chairman of the WWF’s European
Forest Team and member of WWF’s Global Forest Advisory
Group. In the early 90’s, he advised different public
authorities, universities and ministries of the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia on implementation of environmental information
systems. Mr. Liedeker holds a Masters degree in Forest Ecology
from the University of Vermont, USA and a Forestry degree
from the University in Munich.
